Understanding Trauma

Trauma is more than just an emotional disturbance; it's a profound physical response embedded in our bodies. Whether triggered by significant events or persistent life stresses, trauma integrates into our tissues, influencing our daily experiences for years. When our systems become overloaded and we can’t fully process these impacts, it can lead to a sense of being out of control.

In a nurturing environment guided by skilled facilitators, you'll discover how to reconnect with your body's inherent wisdom. This journey will help you foster a deeper relationship with both yourself and your surroundings. Each day offers fresh chances for personal growth and healing as you engage with the transformative power of breath and movement.

The Location

For most visitors, our Australian experience will begin in the Harbour City of Sydney—with its broad beaches, scenic cruises, and iconic features, including the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Make sure to book extra time for sight-seeing while you’re Down Under, whether before or after the workshop. You’ll probably need more than just a few extra days!

All of our on-location workshops are part of our Practitioner Certification series (Tracks 4 & 5), and also are open to Experiential Breathers wishing to include BBTRS® in their own, personal healing process (Track 1). See each Track’s curriculum for details and prerequisites.

The 60-acre Swami Yoga Retreat Centre was established in 1983 by Swami Sarasvati, Australia’s well-known yogi, philosopher, and television personality. The centre provides a tranquil “bushland” setting with excellent facilities for workshops—and also offers yoga and meditation classes, as well as massage. A community of volunteer yogis supports the venue with permaculture, gardening, cooking, and other community efforts.

Fifty-five minutes northwest of the centre of Sydney, our retreat centre is a full-service location that hosts guests from around the world—from day visitors, to groups, to its community of volunteers. The property includes a tennis court, spa facilities, pool, gym, and even WiFi. Accommodations include spacious and bright single, double, and triple rooms with shared bathrooms. There is also a limited number of secluded glamping tents. Vegetarian and vegan meals are served with herbal tea; guests are asked not to eat meat, drink, or smoke on the premises.
